Transparency Report

Methodology & Verification

The Epstein Document Atlas is built on neutrality and rigorous documentation. This page details how records are sourced, verified, and cited so readers can validate every claim.

Sourcing standards

Primary source documents are prioritized over secondary reporting whenever available.

  • Court records: transcripts, exhibits, and filings cross-referenced with docket systems.
  • Flight logs: manifests aligned with known date and location records.
  • FOIA records: public agency releases with traceable reference numbers.

Verification process

Every index entry is reviewed through four checks before publication:

  1. Document extraction and source metadata capture.
  2. OCR scanning and searchable text normalization.
  3. Human review against original filing context.
  4. Final publication gate with timestamped citation notes.

Data ethics and redaction policy

The Atlas preserves factual citations while avoiding unnecessary personal exposure. Existing official redactions remain intact, and context notes are added where records are partial, sealed, or under court restriction.
